It was in 1872 when roots of Dahlia packed in a box was sent from Mexico to Netherlands. Only one plant survived that produced bright red flowers and soon became a favorite among Europeans who started breeding this plant. Dahlia got its name from 18th century botanist Anders Dahl. |
