Charkah-traditional Indian knitting machine

Charkah, the traditional Indian knitting instrument. Made of teak, the charkah or the spinning wheel was a very handy machinery for cutting thread and making clothes in the past. The charkah was very deeply associated with the swadeshi movement in India when Mahatma Gandhi appealed to the countrymen to quit using foreign goods.
