The tower of Qutab Minar is made of fluted red sandstone and bears intricate carvings and cantos from the Holy Koran. These inscriptions are engaved in Arabic and Nagari script. As per one of the inscriptions, the Qutub Minar was restored by Firoz Shah Tughlaq (AD 1351-88), the Tughlaq ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. Later Sikandar Lodi (AD 1489-1517) also got the Qutub Minar refurbished. |
