In the patio of the Quwwatu\\\'l-Islam mosque in the Qutab Minar complex stands the famous Iron Pillar, which flaunts a Sanskrit inscription in Gupta script, probably of the 4th century. The bottom of the pillar is crooked with little pieces of iron keeping it tied to its foundations. A lead sheet envelops the section concealed underneath the present floor-level. |
