Camels, ship of the desert, are herbivorous animals feeding mainly thorns and dry grasses. In times of starvation, they draw their nutrition from the fat accumulated in their humps. Camels are used for transportation in the dessert because of their capacity to survive without food and water for many days. For this reason it is also known as the ship of the dessert. |
